Imbalances between common muscle groups, that are often seen today result in the postural syndromes pictured above. These syndromes are usually a result of repetitive lifestyle activities such as sitting at a desk, driving and/or lack of physical activity. Certain areas of each muscle group become either too tight or strained; causing pain and discomfort, most commonly up around the neck/shoulders and in the low back. Myofascial therapy and stretching are important to release those areas that are too tight, while rehab exercises to strengthen and stabilize those areas that are being strained will help resolve pain and discomfort. What’s your posture looking like while you’re sitting at your desk all day?
